Biosphere Reserves are areas where they apply the principles of the MaB (Man and The Biosphere) of UNESCO, which aims to reconcile nature conservation and economic development. Establishing ecologically representative areas or unique value, in terrestrial, coastal and marine, in which the human population and its activities are considered an integral part of the reservation.

Andalusia is the largest number of these areas in Spain. The 9 Biosphere Reserves in Andalusia form a mosaic of diverse and representative ecosystems and man’s relationship with its environment. The important natural heritage home, have a large range of organizational experiences and participation, as well as numerous lines of sustainable development. These are:

1.- Sierra de Grazalema (Cádiz & Málaga)

2.- Doñana (Huelva)

3.- Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas (Jaén)

4.- Marismas del Odiel (Huelva)

5.- Sierra Nevada (Granada)

6.- Sierra de las Nieves (Málaga)

7.- Cabo de Gata-Nijar (Almería)

8.- Dehesas de Sierra Morena  (Huelva, Sevilla & Córdoba)

9.- Intercontinental Mediterránean (South Andalucía & North Marroco)
